no, e instructors did not teach geography during my past 2wks of audit training, but we did quite abit of geography talk during e training (to kill immense boredom).
it all ensued frm tis role play, where we'r supposed to hold a meeting n decide on a place to go for holiday (some soft-skills training thingy lahz).
.
mr ozk: i tink we shd go Hawaii, blahblah....
mr famous: no, i tink we shd go further, to Mauritius, blahblah...
me: Mauritius is further than Hawaii.....?
*silence, whole class stared at me*
me: where.... is Mauritius....?
*whole class LOL-ed at me*
BUT! im not a joke okayyy. after enquiring 5 individuals, i realised nobody realli noes exactly where Mauritius is lorz. duhz~
Mauritius
south-west of Africa, in e Indian Ocean. is a republic, gained independence frm UK. speaks english, population is mostly of Indian n African descent.
n of cuz, famous for their touristy beach resorts.Maldives
oso located in e Indian Ocean (see map above), has e exact same background as Mauritius, except tat it's v much nearer to India than Mauritius.
their beaches look similar too huh.Maui
i tink many ppl tot Maui is near Maldives and Mauritius since their name sounds familiar, but it's actually e biggest Hawaiian island, closest to American California. did Stitch come frm Maui?? haha~
btw, Alaska (corner of Canada), also belongs to USA. Puerto Rico n some other tiny Latin-American countries near Cuba oso belongs to USA.British Virgin Islands
we learnt abt e below-mentioned cluster of british caribbean islands during audit training cuz they'r tax havens, many foreign companies like to domicile there to exploit their low-tax regimes.
in red above, is located in e caribbean sea. it belongs to e cluster of autonomous British Overseas Territories. .
mostly Black-African demographics, speaks english. more prosperous economies of e Caribbean region, thrive mainly on tourism n financial services.Cayman Islands
BOT (in blue above), christian ctry, speaks english. mostly african-european demographics. caymanians enjoy e highest standard of living in e Caribbean. prosperous tourism n financial services too.
.
.
at tis pt, i conclude aLL e islands mentioned in tis post look identicaL. -_- Bermuda
(slightly off map above, in white) also a British Overseas Territory. speaks english n has one of e highest GDP per capita in e world.
i realli do have clients registered at Bermuda lehz, fyi.there u go, some fast facts of these little known islands for u. do correct me if im wrong, i truly wish to get my geography right. haha~
