i seem to always procrastinate whenever it's re zen's bdae

zen and gen's bdae, to be exact! jul/aug 2009, this post is like 6mths late?? lol.

we went to this peranakan place called The Arch Restaurant at Seah Street (just checked out hungrygowhere.com and it appeared tat this restaurant closed down alr lol).

ordered this lemongrass drink, which totally doesnt look potable but doesnt taste as bad as it looks.

seriously i cant rem wat this is, but i tink it's assam fatty pork dish. okay nia, dont know how to appreciate.

i believe this is e ayam buah keluak, super acquired taste. personally wont try it ever again.

this, is gd. then again, this is just a simple sambal kang kong.

best dish muz be e nonya laksa! it tastes halfway betw fried hokkien prawn mee n laksa! my fav dish for e night! n the restaurant's lifesaver, i wld say.

if my memory doesnt fail me, this is a veri inexpensive meal, but servings are pretty small. to be honest i'll only consider gg back for the laksa, but since it alr closed down i wont get to go back anymore lol.

n zen was like 1hr late?? so she wasnt in e early photos we took at e restaurant.

then zen arrived n the bdae girls can finally snap a photo tog!

hurhur somehow zen has this mystical bed look in e above photo.

proceed to Long Bar at Raffles Hotel for after dinner drinks!

gen's mojito tastes realli weird, n the waiter said tats cuz they use a different kinda funky concoction for it or sth. pls dont order a mojito in long bar, it tastes like white flower oil.

im e smart one! Long Bar of cuz muz order e Singapore Sling! definitely their best drink!

e above is just a chain of camwhoring by the 5 of us, basically just permutation n combination nia lol.

when's our nx meetup?? when mrong stops flying us kite! hahahaha.

did u noe tat there's toastbox in hk too?

i saw at least 2 toastbox stores on hk island alone!




hmm but it's admittedly a lil dumb for a singaporean to visit toastbox for bfast (not once, but twice) when she's holidaying in hk. shd have gone to a local cha chan teng. oh well.

they call mee siam as nanyang mian xian (south sea thin noodles). n on e menu it states "kopi (nanyang white coffee)". hurhurhur. but when e DB told e hongkie toastbox staff tat she wants a kopi, e hongkie look positively puzzled lol.

The Hangout Rocks!

we finally visited the newly opened The Hangout! lady boss kaijun aka member of my sisterhood kindly gave us her biggest room....

.

which is veri big n comfy n pretty! it's all pink n white striped, with kitties on e wall! haha i donno wat guys will feel abt tis room tho.

there are 2 sets of tv n console in "the pink room", so 2 grps can play at e same time!

e gamers all ready to wiiii~~~

there are alot of e hottest n most popular wii games there, like Raving Rabbids, Guitar Hero, MarioKart, etc. juz ask n u will be granted! hehe~

every private room has a theme in The Hangout, this room is Mario!

i tink their deco is very creative n vibrant. besides the individual private rooms for gaming, they have a number of gaming stations outside as well.

sofa is veri comfy! n everything's brand new there!

this is e board games area. e friendly Hangout staff are always happy to help u explain e games, so dont worry abt being clueless. e board games there are mostly easy to pick up. =)

me n my mocha freeze, which pretty gd n totally not diluted as compared to most drinks tat ktvs provide.

their inexpensive gaming packages mostly comes with free flow drinks, juz top up $1+ to upgrade to freezes!

dor n her honeydew freeze which is yummy as well. Gabriel (co-boss) came in n offered to replace one of our hazelnut freeze cuz he realised tat it's too sweet, thats great service!

we tried DDR next! it's chinese songs de lehz, i din noe they come in chinese songs, interesting~

rider's cafe

one bright shady sunday morn, e 4 of us went to rider's cafe for brunch. after some iphone googling for directions to e ulu place, we finally found it.

tho e smell assaulted us a lil once we entered e restaurant (since it's right beside e horse stables n horses kinda stink), e ambience n food did win us over afterall.

my morning pancakes, which is one of e best pancakes i've ever eaten. it's not too fluffy nor too dry, goes along perfect with cranberry n maple syrup n cream! highly recommended!

lu's eggs benedict. we all tink tat choupinette's eggs benedict is better, e hollandaise sauce at choupinette is invincibly yummy while e one at rider's is a tad too sour for our liking.

ray's big bfast meal. i wld prefer if e potatoes were a lil softer, n tat they serve stewed mushrooms with e big bfast instead.

we shared a breaded calamari tog, it was fantastic! soft n fresh calamari, crispy on e outside, goes really well with e tartar sauce!

e bfast mains doesnt come tog with drinks as a set, unlike in choupinette. so i ordered a mocha to go with my bfast.

e view frm our table is quite awesome as well, peaceful n tranquil. we saw a few horses trot by us while eating. wld advise u to reserve a table by e side so tat u get a better view. we felt those tables inside felt abit claustrophobic n stuffy.
