e great slides designer

tis is an attempt at escaping frm e realm of mugging by blogging! (oh wow, they rhyme!) haha~

tis sem i compiled a grand total of 4 sets of powerpoint slides for my various project presentations, n have somehow earned a reputation at compiling. my grpmates all lauded me on e pretty slide designs!

google presentation

slide design totally original! google has a clean n no cluster image, so i tried to follow their style. incidentally came across a pic of e 4 coloured circles at google's website n tot i can use em to decorate e boring pg number corner.

starbucks presentation

completely original slide design by me oso. spent a damn long time doing e design for these slides, cuz no inspiration. tried a few sucky designs b4 tis, then finally decided on tis when i realised im too close to deadline.

tis design is abit too cluttered, but oso not bad lahz. at least it's original. like e lil design at e top right hand corner, with e name of e presenter n pg number.

airasia n tiger airways presentation

ok i downloaded tis slide template frm e microsoft website, so e background design is not original. but other then e background e rest is pretty much original okayy...

e agenda slide is animated, in a veri airline way. haha~

i love e design at e bottom right hand corner, for e presenter's name. look so pilot-ish. my idea! hee~

oooohhh~ tiffany is like e dream company to do a project on, for gals!

was so distracted by their super chio jewelry when i was surfin their site for slide design inspiration lorz. i wan jewelry frm tiffany!

e oh-so-pretty blue box background is veri nice rite?? my idea too!

my slide designs are all veri suitable for marketing proj, but not business enough for finance project. n e tiffany case was a finance project. oops... haha~

but pretty wat! n tats wat matters to me! oh well, girls will be girls. LoL~

mayb i shd sell my slide design expertise to e marketing students. muahahaha~

e name game

i noe my name is not ez for non-chinese to pronounce, but i still cant help but feel slightly annoyed when ppl mispronounced my name.

most non-chinese will pronounce my name as "kian-wee", with e exception of my australian-indian fyp tutor, who conveniently left out e hui n called me "qi-an ". n some chinese mispronounced my qian as 钱 or 倩.

i've even heard of frens who alwayz tot my surname is 钱 n my name is juz 惠, as in 钱惠. *faintz*

but e most irritating thing is when locally-educated chinese tells me, "sorry if i mispronounced ur name, cuz my chinese is veri bad".

tats bullshit. if u'r locally-educated, u definitely hafta pass PSLE chinese, n e PSLE chinese standard is adequate for u to pronounce my name accurately. hehz~

it's 芊惠, everybody. pls do not mispronounce it, i will get annoyed.

tho i like my chinese name, i don like it when ppl mispronounce it. already having so many ppl mispronouncing my name in sg, it's ultra reasonable to predict tat much more ppl will mispronounce my name in e US. so i mite as well juz use a name tats easier for e angmohs to call me by.

in a weak attempt to preserve my chinese name, i've decided to use eng names starting with "q". after discussing with qing n nominated a few names, i tot i'll juz put it on blogpoll...

queenie - for some unknown reason, my roomie's bf calls me queenie, like a nickname. tis name sounds abit act cute, i fear ppl will get disgusted. haha~

quincie - special name. but quincy is a guy's name, tot quincie wld sound abit more girlish. then again, sound abit act cute.

qwin - pronounced as "queen", but in a different spelling. u noe, tis is like naming myself after my blog. LoL. qing said it resembles "sure-win", which is gd, i wanna win. haha~ but a lil pretentious oso, i tink.

tis is juz a name tat i MITE use in e states, for convenience's sake. im not gonna put it in my ic or anything. in fact, i may noT even use e eng name afterall. 芊惠 will alwayz be e most preferred. haha~

besides housing a complete set of entertainment sys (21" tv + cable + vcr + vcd player + laptop + wifi), my room oso proudly possesses tis...

being e filial grand-daughter tat im, i stayed over at my ah ma's hse over e wkend to keep my ah ma companied while ah gong is in china. tats part of e cause behind my recent online inactivity. do cute guyz like filial grand-daughters?? LoL~

as there's no internet at ah ma's hse, i brought along e all abt eve 爱上女主播 vcd over to entertain myself. yes miao, i finally watched it. haha~

i tot i wun get hooked by e show lorz, cuz it's such an old show le...

but still, i did get hooked. finished all 20 episodes during my 4-nite stay there, when im supposed to start mugging. hehe~

n now i like tat uncle too. slapped myself in e face. hehz~

im such a sucker for shows with male characters tat are rich, powerful, confident, smart, devoted, charismatic, blahblah... e prince charming type lahz. then again, ting made a gd pt by sayin "who wun like tat kinda guy??" hee~

after watching numerous k-dramas, i conclude tat k-actors mostly look uncle-ish. tats cuz dey all have e ernest n mature aura. but hey, dey can also look hoT okayy...

Seminar 4 (Jan)

e above is e seating plan in my finance class. my grpmates refer to obnoxious asshole no.1 as 小倩 cuz of her ugly hair, n obnoxious asshole no.2 is known as 宁采臣 cuz he's in cahoots with no.1.

when e presentation was in progress, 小倩 n 宁采臣 kept criticising e presenters. n as u can see, they were not sitting veri near each other. so they were basically criticising e presenters out loud across e classroom.

小倩 to 宁采臣: no lorz, wrong lahz!
宁采臣 to 小倩: ya, wrong lorz! my goodness!

prof to presenters: wat is e equation for free cash flows?
presenters: ermz... current assets minus current liabilities
小倩 to 宁采臣: HUH... tats net working capital lorz! aiyo 宁采臣 u go n present instead lahz!

im not kidding, they seriously said tat. i was soooo annoyed by e both of em tat i turned over n diao-ed 小倩 lorz. tho i donno e presenters personally, but frm wat i observed, they'r much nicer ppl than 小倩 n 宁采臣.

furthermore, e presenters are juz yr2 students n e case they presented on was sooo difficult lahz. do u have to be so harsh??

who are 小倩 n 宁采臣 to treat e presenters like tat anywayz?? so wat if they'r top dean's listers?? doesnt give em e right to look down on everybody else rite?? wtf.

Seminar 6 (Feb)

it's finally their turn to present. their slides were veri elaborate n pro looking, but e words were so small everybody had to squint their eyes. n they did tons of additional stuffs, mayb in a bid to show how smart n zai they r. however, even e prof said those super chim additional stuffs were redundant for e case. wahahahaha~

n their remaining relevant stuffs were greatly scrutinised n rebuked by e prof oso. muahahaha~

u wld tink tat since they were soooo zai to e pt of being snobs, their presentation skills muz be excellent. sorry to disappoint u, cuz 宁采臣 was stuttering away. hehz~

Seminar 13 (todae)

they sat at e last row todae, with their gang of obnox. n when my grp was presenting, they were chit chatting away.

nvm tat they were uninterested in our presentation n din even bother to show us some respect by shutting up, but e prof was sitting juz right in front of em lorz. tat din stop em frm chatting so loudly. tink e prof can hear every single word tat they were spouting.

when one of my grpmate asked e class if they can see e words on e projection screen, one member frm e obnox juz yelled out rudely, "CANNOT!" wtf.

my turn to present. n e prof had some queries for me...

prof: so wat is e COSO framework? can u tell me more abt it? i've nv heard of it b4.
me: it's a risk mgmt framework widely used by e accounting industry...

at tis pt, e whole gang of obnox burst into laughter. wtf is so ticklish abt e COSO framework?? by laughing they've made me so paisey lorz, cuz it's like i made e prof seem so stupid. n i nv meant for e prof to appear stupid. i mean, he's a finance prof n it's ok for him to not noe abt e accounting stuffs rite?? wtf~

ahhh well... they can be as snobbish n obnoxious as they wan, cuz i can despise em as much as i can too. n im not e oni one who dislikes em, so many other ppl have heard abt n dislike their infamous traits.

despite being smart n zai, they'r not well-endowed in e looks dept. 小倩 has a slutty aura n is not pretty at all, while 宁采臣 looks like he's in his 30s n is balding. also, i heard 宁采臣 still havent found a job even tho he's one of e top dean's lister who's graduating in 1 mth's time. WAHAHAHAHA~

qian hearts JJ

im now waiting (rather impatiently) for ting to send me her part of e slides for e last presentation in my NTU life. none of e 306 stuffs are going into my head, hence decided to blog instead.

apparently im not e oni one blogging. JJ's blogging too!! thx sissy for giving me tis link. sooo much of JJ in e blog, heart! hee.

he's pretty cute to me, tho i noe miao wld beg to differ. hey, at least gimme a lil credit lahz. tis is e 1st time i heart an artiste not cuz of e artiste's looks eh. i fell for his voice 1st horz, n still truly love his voice! haha~

but after tat i realised he's cute too. hehe~

he's having his JJ party tis 23 apr at spore expo. i have e tix but have nobody to go with me. sobz.

worse still, he's having his 1st paid-entry concert in singapore in june n i cant go!! was still thinking can ask if miss wong can help me get a backstage pass... hehe~

sacrificed so many things for my work and travel usa prog lorz. (oh JJ went to e US recently too!) 1st world cup, then JJ's concert. n ting mentioned e great spore sale too. hehz~

one fine day, i was at e bus stop shown in e picture below, waiting for e ntu-bound 179.

there was an ah bek at e same bus stop too, looking a lil lost. ah bek not as in e chee ko bek kinda ah bek, but e lao ah bek kinda ah bek. he's probably 80 and more, considerably lao. frail but healthy-looking, tho he doesnt appear 2b veri mentally agile.

aiya e ah bek is juz veri old lahz. it's like, my ah ma is old too, but she's still mentally agile, if u noe wat i mean...

anywayz, ah bek approached me n asked (in english, to my surprise) "u noe... where... bus... 502... ??"

pointing in e direction of e pink arrow below, i replied, "502 at e interchg, not here. in-ter-chg."

ah bek thanked me n wobbly crossed e road. but juz when i tot he understood my instructions, he stopped at e opposite bus stop (see purple arrow below).

ah bek tot i was pointing to tat bus stop. *faintz*

after surveying e bus stop stand (or wateva u call tat), i guess ah bek probably wondered if his aging eyes were playing tricks on him.

cuz as u can see, there's no 502.

then he glanced in my direction. i tot he was looking at me so i pointed to e interchg again n yelled across e road, "in-ter-chg, no-t the-re!"

but apparently he's not realli looking at me. pengz~

i contemplated crossing e road to further furnish him with details of where e bus interchg is, but juz when i was abt to execute e plan, 179 arrived. realising i was late for class, i abandoned ah bek n jumped onto 179.

i was momentarily shocked beyond words when my mum told me she went to e doctor recently n asked e doc if she "有没有" cuz she missed her period.

OMG OMG OMG OMFG~~

i will FLIP if e doc said "有". seriously.

occasionally, i will dream of my mum getting pregs again. n i'll alwayz wake up soaked in cold sweat, completely freaked out.

tis dream of mine must never come true. *shiver*

NIS versus NUSIS

my club received NUS AWC's NUSIS email invitation tis wk. i was taken aback when i saw wat e NUSIS mgmt team has done so far...

tis yr, application to participate in NUSIS is done thru their website. n their mgmt team even set up a specialised NUSIS web link on their newly revamped website.

n they have sooo many sponsors! my goodness.

their specialised NUSIS website is so darn pro n cool tat i feel ultra guilty. NIS is juz but a tiny part on NTU ARC's website n our application is done thru email.

n we oni have PUB sponsoring us newater. -_-

after realising tat NTU ARC is paling so much in comparison, i start to wonder if
1) im not doing enough, or
2) they'r doing too much.

well, to console myself, at least we have our own range n air weapons n shooting equipments. wahahaha~

tis sucks.

tis is e 2nd consecutive wk tat my tuition kid din reply my sms, n e 4th consecutive wk tat i havent been giving him tuition.

i presume e reasons for not replying my smses are:
(a) he don wan me as his amaths tuition teacher anymore
(b) he lost his hp
(c) he's toooo unwell to reply smses

it's ez to replace sim card n get back ur original hp number, so (b) is not a valid reason. n i don tink anyone cld be soooooo sick tat he cant reply smses for consecutively 2 wks.

it muz be (a) then. hehz~

he still owes me a balance of $50.

wat im gonna do to get back my $50:
1) sms him, until his hp explodes
2) threaten to mail anthrax to his house
3) decorate his door with generous amt of paint n dog shit

i like bad boys. mr nice guyz simply don interest me at tis pt of my life. but whenever i tell my frens tat i heart bad boys, they'll say "but he'll treat his gf badly n break her heart, u noe. cuz they'r bad."
