look at e treats e A1s got for helping out at e conference!

straits kitchen

when i was told tat 'dinner is provided', i din expect tat e dinner wld be @ e expensive straits kitchen!

it's a pretty posh buffet restaurant with nice decor, serves realli local food like char kway teow, fried rice, indian curry, etc.

n u can see e chefs cooking, machiam like aquarium lidat. i conclude tat these chefs are e ones who earn big big bucks, cuz it costs like $35+++/pax to eat there.

food!

e popiah is damn nice! watermelon juice is v watermelony! muah chee is v tender! nonya kueh is delicious!

tandoori chicken is gd too! zhongda ate so much tandoori chicken there, cuz he took too many n we forced him to finish. LoL~

actually we missed out on alotta e premium dishes cuz we were there too early. by e time those dishes were ready, we were too full. buddha jump over e wall, chilli crab, codfish.. haiz~

e nx day, we were rewarded with straits kitchen bfast for reporting to work at 6am..

so enticing! dim sum, pancakes, yoghurt, pastries, cereals, salad! there's even a scrambled egg man who will scramble ur choice of eggs! how cool is tat!!~

service there was realli gd, veri polite n fast. i so hate myself for missing out e pancakes tho, din realised there was pancakes. -_-

lunch buffets n tea breaks by grand hyatt

they are realli gd, esp e sweet whatnots! not e ordinary kinda catered food lorz, tho e photos dont turn out as appetising as they realli are.

e mushrooms were sooo fantastic, i went for 2nd helping even tho i was alr stuffed. how can gen hate mushrooms??? gosh~

n the desserts... OMG~~ damnnnnnnnnnn nice!~ very mango-ish mango cake, super delicious bread pudding, ultra chocolatey choc cake, fabulous chicken sandwich, etc etc~ *droolz*

dinner @ chijmes

posh dinner, $75+++/pax. A1 helpers get to eat too cuz there were many empty tables. hohoho~

can u believe tat all these were fully sponsored by e company for e partners?? i juz love my company's extravagant culture! muahahaha~

but seriously, e food there aint worth e exorbitant price. ambience was perfect tho, perfect chapel for a romantic little wedding.

rem in sec sch we had etiquette classes where e trainer will teach us how/when to use e plethora of utensils?

tat was e 1st time i realli saw tat infamous plethora of utensils. but oh well, nobody realli cared which is e correct one to use. chey~

e bread was yummy n soft, best dish for tat nite. and e waiters kept offering us more bread, bcuz...

e servings were so small! typical italian dishes, oni enough to fill e gaps betw my teeth.

tats e goose liver + crab salad appetiser, followed by tis mushroom soup which looked alot like puke. not nice.

it's oni a 5-course dinner, n e intervals betw e courses were like 30mins. by e time e nx dish came, e previous dish was alr digested, esp since e serving is so small.

main course: Leg of black-peppered chicken on a bed of Saute Mushroom, Asparagus accompanied by Crispy Onion, Laced with Aged Balsamic and Basil Sauce

dessert: Trio Cassata with Candy Cherries and Chocolate Chip

sounds cool? it's nth great lorz, juz chicken chop and neopolitan ice cream. grand hyatt was wayyyy better!

total cost of meals @ straits kitchen & chijmes:
( $35*2 + $75 ) * 1.16 = $168.20
plus e buffet lunches & tea breaks by grand hyatt, i definitely ate food tat cost >$200 in total for e conference days! HOHOHOHO~

e whole gang of auditors tink tat tis rich n potato-ish guy is trying to chase one of our golden member, but we realli cant help but frown at his gal-chasing tactics.

e golden member was at my hse playing overnite mj, when at abt 1am, she went out to meet him for supper. he specially drove down frm sixth ave to boon lay cuz he urgently needa get a particular sth frm e golden member..

yes, tats wat he urgently needa get from her. i cant help but hyperventilate when e golden member showed me tat wrinkled box of lemsip max tat looked almost empty.

my gosh, there's no pharmacy in sixth ave????

eager to solve tat mystery, me n gen went to search for all possible places where a rich fella living in sixth ave can find lemsip max..

e nearest one wld be cold storage @ guthrie house, right smack on sixth ave. tink it'll take less than 3mins to drive there lorz.

oh n if it's late n supermarts are all closed, there's a 7-eleven right opp guthrie house.

then there's cold storage jelita at e other end of sixth ave. near old RJC there..

slightly further, there's a cold storage @ king albert park, right nx to macs. then opp old yeoh hiap seng there's bt timah plaza, shop n save.

if mr lemsip max (frm now on i shall bestow him tat nick) dont mind spending abit more on petrol, can drive towards NJC n head towards coronation plaza where there's an NTUC..

i can list more places where mr lemsip max can buy himself some flu med, but i shant further emphasise his lame-ness. but they'r all much much nearer than boon lay lahz. duhz~

okay, mayb he's juz being sweet, wanna see e golden member so badly thus made up some lacklustre excuse. guess it's juz his bad luck tat me n gen were loyal NJCians who hung out in the bt timah area frequently.

it's a 2-day event organised by PwC Sg for our asia financial services depts, n me + a few other A1s (e most junior staff in e PwC hierarchy) were booked to help out in e event.

a realli gd experience i must say, xcept for e part where i hafta report for work at 6am.

see how empty e road outside my hse was at 530am?? e whole world was still slping lahz. e oni gd thing is tat e cab journey frm boon lay to orchard took oni 15mins! how awesome~

n have u seen such an empty stretch of scotts-hyatt-fareast road?? cool~

gen, tats lumix-fx3's nite mode for u. tried a few times but all turned out lidat. i therefore conclude tat in order for nite modes to turn out nice, u needa use tripod or an expert photographer.

location of e conference is grand hyatt hotel btw, super posh hotel with staff opening doors for u at e entrance.

it's realli pretty lehz, inside e hotel. okay mayb all posh hotels look like tat, watever.

nx time i wanna hold my wedding there. no wait, i mite juz die a spinster. how abt funeral? i'll definitely die someday. does hyatt host funerals?? LoLoL~

e grand ballroom, where e conference mostly took place. those are not e backs of laymen u'r seeing in e above photos, they're all big shots' backs.

my role in e conference? v zo boh, passing mikes to e big shots who wanna ask e speakers qns. it requires alot of speed n vigilance, mind u.

tending e reception counter for e big shots when they register..

yes, we'r given ugly orange polo tees as uniforms. so un-pro, we look like insignificant gullible temping teens lorz. no wonder one big shot bloodily asked me to get a cup of tea for him. wtf~

anywayz, while doing recept at e hotel lobby on sun nite, lotsa wedding guests tot we'r hotel staff n asked us where e various banquet locations were..

n we noted everyone of those queries down cuz we were so bored. 15 w/in 1hr of recept-ing. bah~

another part of my job scope is to hold signages to direct those conference delegates to e correct locations.

we look happie but actually we hate holding those bloody signages, look like idiots. n our nickname for those days was "carrot-coloured lollipop ladies". bah~

tho work is realli menial, there were some things i absolutely enjoyed..

fooling around while zo boh-ing. my Team-In-Charge n fellow team member played connect-4 while me n rong photo-whored. seriously v slack.

he is my sole motivation to sit at the reception desk outside e grand ballroom dealing with all those snobbish big shots..

e shuai shuai french-looking hotel manager (arrowed)! realli v shuai lorz, been gushing abt him throughout e 2 days' of conference.

oh! i saw zhang yao dong oso! outside grand hyatt when i was waiting for cab to go hm! one of my fav mediacorp actor.. *swoon*

rong said she saw him looking at me oso, was he oso byo-ing me???? wahahahaha~ okay i tink he's looking at me cuz i've been staring at him lahz huh. haha~

tats e name labels we've made for ourselves while slackin, can paste on calculators n stationery. e labelling machine is actually for making nametags for e big shots lahz. i love e bottom-most label, "shitface", for ting. hohohoho~

oh my, my blog's daily hits reached an all-time high yester after i published e compo post. realli so great ahz, tat post? haha~

i've alwayz wondered who are e ppl who reads my blog, cuz e amt of daily hits e site receives regularly is more than e no. of ppl whom i can recall reads my blog. which means there r some other ppl who reads my blog w/o me knowing.

not tat i hate ppl reading my blog w/o my knowledge, i mean, it's a public site which is accessible to anyone afterall. juz curious lahz. so, those "unidentified" ppl pls say hi?? haha~

Picture Sequence - An Accident

Peals of laughter wafted into my ear. I turned to face the origin of the noise. Two adolescents of age six or seven were having fun tossing the ball to each other by the side of the bustling road.

"Hey! Pass the ball to me!" Wee Meng hollered to his playmate, Yong Chun.

Wee Meng was an articulate boy with an inquisitive nature. His lanky figure was formed by his unhealthy preference for tidbits and dislike of vegetables. His slick dark hair was neatly combed to the side with his mother's help. Wee Meng's small round face was wrought with a snub nose, tiny brown eyes and dozens of freckles.

Coincidentally, Yong Chun resembled Wee Meng physically. At first I was still wondering if they were twins. Yong Chun seemed to be of the same age as Wee Meng. However, the liliputian Yong Chun had huge black eyes which glinted when he saw Wee Meng’s new toy.

The boys’ joyous laughter cheered me up while I was waiting impatiently for my bus at a nearby bus-stop. The boys’ mothers were standing a distance from the boys, exchanging the latest gossips in the neighbourhood. These two gossip-mongers were so absorbed in other people’s businesses that they were totally oblivious of what their precious boys were doing.

“My ball!” Wee Meng cried, as his new ball bounced over onto the road.

“I’ll get it.” Yong Chun offered, since he was the one who accidentally threw the ball to the road.

“No! I’ll get it!” the headstrong Wee Meng ran towards the road before Yong Chun could lift a finger.

Wee Meng gave Yong Chun a smug look after he had picked up his ball. But little did he realise the imminent danger. A crimson Toyota sped from afar. The driver obviously had no intentions to slow down upon seeing Wee Meng rooted precariously in the middle of the road.

I watched the rest of the happenings with immense apprehension. Wee Meng’s frail figure was flung into the atmosphere by the impact of the collision and landed some few metres away, powerless and defeated.

did i mention b4 tat i was very gd at english composition writing when i was in sec 4?? my english english teacher (he's frm UK) gave me 18 out of 20 for e above picture sequence short story lorz. muahahahaha~

i was so proud of those compositions tat i still kept my compo book till now. every now n then when im packing my room i'll take em out n marvel at myself. LoLoL~

for those who tink my english sucks, i scored an A2 for my english 'O' levels okayy... not oni potatoes do well in english horz. hehz~

but after tat in jc i got C5 for my GP lahz. -_- aiya im oni gd at story-writing, those serious assertion-substantion shitty essay i cannot make it lahz. haha~
